Introduction to the Peg Perego John Deere Front Loader

The John Deere Front Loader is a 12 volt electric car for kids, that is built by one of the most respected brands in the Ride on Toys industry, Peg Perego.  In my opinion, even above Power Wheels(But they are a close second).

With the John Deere Front Loader your kids will be sure to have some fun while going through all types of terrain, not just pavement, but grass, dirt, mud, hills, bumps and valleys.

PROS/CONS

Pros

  • Built by Peg Perego and therefore has a 2 year warranty
  • Built with quality and durability in mind
  • Has a front loader and can actaully haul stuff
  • Can carry an additional battery for extended play time
  • Can hold more than the manufacturer’s weight limit of 85lbs
  • Has an adjustable seat
  • Easy to shift gears

Cons

  • The front loader is durable to an extent, remember, this is still a toy
  • I have no other cons for this product! 🙂

Who is the John Deere Ground Loader Ride On Toy For?

Whether you have a boy or a girl, it makes no difference, as long as your kids love tractors and getting dirty and rough and tough, then the John Deere Ground Loader is for them.  Just see for yourself:

I do recommend that they are at least 3 years of age.  That is when we bought our son his Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force 12 Volt Tractor Ride, and then shortly after purchased the Ground Loader so that more kids could come over from the neighborhood and play with our boys as well.  By having two Johnd Deere Ground Force Tractors, the wait time to ride one would be a lot smaller.

When my oldest son, Hunter, first drove it, it took him about a week or so before he moved it into second gear, which is faster.  I undersatnd that every child develops at a different pace, so that is why I recommend starting this one at 3 years old in first gear.  And when your child is ready, in their own time, they can move on to second gear.

Although, the bucket of the ground loader can’t hold tons of weight, more than 15-20lbs, it can hold small sticks and rocks and dirt.  So if your kid loves to go behind you while you work on the yard and act like they are helping, then the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Loader is for them! 🙂

What Type of Customer Support Should I Expect?

This is where the Peg Perego brand really shines.  Don’t get me wrong, they have a very durable, quality product, but it is there customer support, that I have personally used, that was just fantastic.

I once to make sure I was understanding the assembly instructions and I called another time with the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force 12 Volt Tractor Ride because the power wouldn’t turn on.

Both times I called the issue was fixed in less than 5 minutes and they were not only knowledgeable but very, very customer friendly, unlike my experience with the Moderno Kids customer service, while putting together their Jeep Wrangler Raptor.

In Conclusion

If you really want front loader/ground loader action than the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Loader is a must buy.  My oldest son, Hunter, has had his for over a year now, and it has been riden every week since we have purchased it, almost 5 times a week!!!  And it is still going strong and everything is still in tact.

The Peg Perego John Deere Ground Loader gets 5 out of 5 Stars for the Fun Meter, and 4 out of 5 Stars for the Value Meter, giving it an Overall Ranking of 4.5 Stars.

This is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time! If only I had one of these when i was a child.

Can I ask how long is the battery life in the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force Tractor and how long do the batteries take to charge?

This would make an awesome present for my nephew.

    • Jason

Yeah, it really is an awesome toy, that’s for sure! 🙂 Depending on the weight of the child and the terrain, the charge of the battery will last about 1-3 hours. If you are like my kids, my oldest weighs 42lbs and youngest weighs, 27 lbs, but we also have the neighbor hood kids come over and they in a range of 50-90lbs, and they all drive on grass on bumpy terrain, and the charge still last a good 1 1/2 hrs! 🙂

The first charge on your battery should always be 18-24 hours and the manufacturer recommends each time after, but I have been getting by with charging them only 10-12 hours.

Now Peg Perego also has a 12v Quick Charger that charges the vehicle in only 2 hours! It does cost $35.79 but I think saving 10 hours of charge time to get my kids back out there, it’s worth it. I actually just found out about it myself in researching your questions, and plan to get one soon! 🙂

      Hope this helps.

  2. Michael Angelo

    Hi Jason,
Is there your son in the pictures? What about other electric small vehicles like small racing bike for kids?
Also I want to ask how much it cost?
What about the maintenance, is it like the real vehicles that need maintenance once in a while?
Sorry for asking a lot of questions. Thanks so much.

    Best Regard,
    Michael Angelo

    • Jason

First off Michael, no need to apologize, that’s what I am here for, to answer any questions you may have and to hopefully share with any future experiences you have with any of the electric cars for kids that you may purchase! 🙂

On this particular article, these pictures are not my son. I do plan on replacing them as soon as I get some good ones, though. Despite us having it more then a year now, I am usually out there having fun with them and not really taking pictures, so I will make it a priority and get some soon. However, there is a family picture of us on our About Us page and I do have a pic of my boys in my Moderno Kids Jeep Wrangler Raptor Review and a video of my oldest son, Hunter, in my Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force Tractor With Trailer Review. Feel free to check those out.

As far as cost, at the date of this comment, Amazon has the lowest price at $265. You can click here now and you can have one at your front door in a matter of days. Every now and then other companies may have a sale and come in slightly lower than Amazon, usually only by about $5, but they are companies I am not too familiar with at the moment, Hayneedle and Jet. Jet is only about 6 months old, at the date of this writing, and I am not familiar yet with either of their return policies and there reliability of shipments, and customer service.

I am however vary familiar with Amazon’s reliability, return policies(I have used them myself once or twice) and customer service. Me personally, I would rather spend the extra $5 to have the confidence that I am dealing with a great, reliable company.

I have owned two Peg Perego electric cars for kids over a year now, and the only thing I will be needing to replace soon, is a rear wheel tire. It only cost $32 and you get two of them. They are pretty easy to put on too. That again is what I love about buying from a solid, reliable company, like Peg Perego, they make it easy to find replacement parts, if needed.

Hopefully I was able to answer all your questions. I hope it wasn’t too long, but I wanted to make sure I answered all your questions as thoughrouly as possible.
