Introduction to the RollPlay Mini Cooper

The RollPlay Mini Cooper is a 6-volt, battery operated car for kids.  It has real, LED headlights, a working horn and engine sounds, and realistic windows, mirror, and dashboard.  It is recommended for ages 3 and up, up to 77lbs.

  • Easy to to turn sterring wheel
  • Easy to handle gear shifter for forward/reverse
  • Makes cool engine sounds
  • Has LED headlights
  • Very, very little assembly required
  • Doors stay shut providing added saftey for kids
  • Comes with RollPlay’s 1-year vehicle warranty and 6-month battery warranty
  • Easy to find replacement parts
  • Easy to find customer support contact info

  • It’s a 6 volt
  • Only has one speed(2.5mph)
  • Drives well only on hard surfaces such as pavement
  • Doesn’t drive well on grass, soft dirt, or mud
  • Low to the ground(again made for flat, hard surfaces not offroading of any kind)

Who is the RollPlay Mini Cooper For?

Although the recommended age says 3 and up, really think it is really made for ages 2-4.  The reason being is that it is a 6 volt battery operated car.  This only allows the car to go so fast.

This is perfect if you have a 2 year old.  It has an easy, controlled speed.  The doors stay shut making it harder for your kid to fall out or get out of the vehicle.

I say for ages 2-4 not because the car can’t handle older, heavier kids.  On the contrary, we have had many of our neighbors and friends over, who have ridden the Mini Cooper that weighed in the range of 65lbs-70lbs, and the vehicle did just fine.

I say max 4 years old because my oldest son was already bored with it by the time he was 3 1/2… just went too slow compared to a 12-volt electric car, like the Moderno Kids Jeep Wrangler Raptor.

My oldest will be 4 next month, at the time of this writing and he lost interest in driving it about 6 months ago.  So the reason why I say max 4 years old is because the Fun Factor Meter will start to go down drastically by then.

If you are looking for an off roading type of vehicle, than the RollPlay Mini Cooper is NOT for you.  You are better off looking into the Peg Perego John Deere Groudn Force Tractor.

But if you are looking for a starter vehicle, something that is safe, but still looks cool and has some great features, then the RollPlay Mini Cooper will be something you and your family will enjoy.

How is RollPlay’s Customer Service?

I have not contacted them myself, but their website has an easy to find “Contact Us” page.  They also provide a FAQs page as well as some basic trouble shooting on their website.

I also love that RollPlay has easy to find and order replacement parts if needed so you can have your kids electric car lasting for years and they provide a decent warranty.

In Conclusion

My boys had a good time on the Mini Cooper and I believe it to be a good quality product.  I never had any problems with the vehicle or battery.

If you are looking for a great, cool looking, safe, stater electric car for your kids, then the RollPlay Mini Cooper is for you.

I found this article so useful. My nephew’s birthday is coming up soon, he’s going to be two next month and I was contemplating on what to get him. But now i have a pretty good idea of what i would want to get. i know he’ll love it. The fact that it doesn’t drive well on grass isn’t a problem since they have a large patio area around the back of their home.

Toni, I am glad you found my Mini Cooper Review helpful. If he is about to turn 2, then the Mini Cooper would definitely be a great fit for him…..or anything that has a 6v battery would be great for him. If you think he may have a challenge driving it at all, then I would encourage you to look at an electric car for kids that comes with a remote control.

I bought the Moderno Kids Jeep Wrangler Raptor for my youngest son, Connor, and despite that out of all the brands on my website, in my opinion, the Moderno Kids brand ranks the lowest, but what it did have that our family needed, was a remote control. This remote control allows me to drive my son Connor around so he still feels like a big boy out there riding right next to his older brother, Hunter! 🙂

Thx again for commenting and please do share our site with your nephew’s parents.

I want to get my son one of these i think he will love it. His 2nd birthday is coming up in april so thinking about it for then. I do have a little petrol powered go kart already but he wouldnt be able to ride that until.considerably older and i think this would be a much safer option to start out on. Thanks for the great review

    • Jason

The RollPay Mini Cooper would defintely be a great option for him, especially since he is about to be 2 years old. At that age, anything that operates on a 6v battery, should be a good fit too…..although, not all the 6v electric cars for kids have doors that stay shut, so that is something you would want to take into consideration as well.

Well, I am glad you like the review, thx for commenting and best wishes.

Aw these cars are so cute. I remember when I was little I used to have a barbie one. My future child needs to have one of these cars too.
The cutest part about this is that it’s actually a small model of a nice mini cooper. When I was a kid, the cars would be generic instead.

    • Jason

lol, I do remember the Barbie ones(not that I owned or drove one when I was little). Back when I was a kid it was thePower Wheels Big Foot that was the bigest rage! 🙂 And I was able to get me a hand-me-down one that latest just short of a year, but boy was it fun!!!

It is really cool, that every year, I see more and more electric cars for kids that are models of real, everydays cars that adults drive now.

I am glad you enjoyed this article and thx for commenting.

Hi Jason, can i say your article has opened my eyes.My boy is 3 now and every time we go to a shopping mall he keeps insisting he wants this electrical mini cooper.I have been hesitant because i was not sure how long he would enjoy it.The information is so clear and now i am going to search for ground fine tractor you recommended and just purchase for him.I am grateful.

    • Jason

I am so glad our article has helped you make a more informed buying decision. I have no doubt that your son will enjoy the RollPlay Mini Cooper or the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force Tractor, which ever you decide to buy.

This is fun for our kids. Electric car for our kids, I like this article. It is a great achievement for our technology and you have done a great write up on this.

The pros are superb. The cons are even pros themselves especially the 2.5mph speed. It will help our kids avoid overspeeding when they are playing in their electric cars. What’s the price range for this awesome product?

    • Jason

Hey Daniel, I am glad you enjoyed the article and found it valuable. And I agree, even the cons are pros themselves when it comes to safety, that’s for sure! 🙂

As far as pricing, most of the time Amazon has the lowest price, when it comes to buying anything online. For example, the Peg Perego John Deere Ground Force Tractor comes in, even with Walmart, for the lowest price at $239.00 compared to Hayneedle at $259.98 and Target at $271.99. And this is for the exact, exact same product.(These pricings are as of today’s date of course)

But to answer your question, the RollPlay Mini Cooper does not come in at the lowest price with Amazon, it is with comes in at $199.00 and anything over $35 comes with free shipping! As of the date of this comment, has only been around for about 6 months, and I have yet to buy something from them, but I have looked at their website and read their policy, and it all seems very legit.

I know this was probably more information than what you needed but I wanted you to know, and all of my readers included, that I want the best price and best quality, for my readers and subscribers, period.

      Thx again for commenting.

Hi! Great review on this go electric car for kids! I have a mini cooper myself and i love it. Funny thing is I have two grandkids that love it a well but they’re only 4 and 6!
I read all the “cons’ but truth be told those are all pluses for me. I wouldn’t want them driving on soft surfaces such as mud etc. I’ll bookmark this site as I’d like to share it with my husband and go over how we can buy one )or two) for our kiddos! thanks!!!

    • Jason

You are so welcome. I am glad you like the review. You aren’t the first to say that the cons are pluses for you too. I glad the Mini-Cooper makes a great fit for you! 🙂

As a kid, I always wanted a Rolls-Royce electric car because they looked so awesome but my parents couldn’t afford one. 🙁 Maybe I’ll just get a real one, one day! LOL.

But the Rollplay Mini Cooper looks amazing and it’s great that these kids cars are still being made today.

I think despite the cons, this kids Mini Cooper car sure has all the characteristics of a real Minin, AND it’s in Bumblebee’s colors… even better! 😉

The price is very reasonable, and I’m sure this car will be on many kids Christmas lists this year.

    • Jason

Neil, you are so right…despite the cons(and I just like to share both sides of the story when it comes to pros and cons) this mini cooper still provided countless days of fun with my boys!

When I was a kid, I always wanted the Big Foot Monster Truck Power Wheels my self. I would say “yes” to putting that on your kids xmas list for sure!
